Dr. Lyons has been a terrific OB-GYN physician because she takes her time with me--she asks good questions, listens and follows up in a timely fashion. She is the first doctor who even thought to ask about whether I had been recommended for counseling after my traumatic first delivery. (The answer was NO! She said I should have been offered this service and not been just expected cope without support. I told her that it did not occur to me to ask. It just must not have been done in the 1970's!) i have been with OB-GYN Associates for about 48 years. All three of our children were delivered by Dr. Steve Vanourny at Mercy Hospital, including an emergency C-Section, before he became the head of St. Luke's. His colleagues, Dr. Gilbert Wessel and Dr. Gerald Barker also were caring and professional. While happy for them after their hard work at all hours, I mourned when all three retired. Unfortunately, I received the unhappy news after my mammogram today that Medicare will no longer pay for OB-GYN services for "well women," so good health as an "older woman" is now a detriment? I am forced to seek future services with my GP, also a very good doctor, but not the specialist I chose (and would have been sent to anyway when the emergency developed) for all of these years.
Thank you, Dr. Lyons, and staff, for your expertise and compassion. I will miss your excellent care.
